Are the initial consultation and estimate free?
Yes. The consultation allows us to get to know one another, discuss your vision, answer questions, and assess whether we’re the right fit for the project. In addition, most of our labor is done in-house, so we are able to provide preliminary estimates faster and with greater accuracy compared to builders that rely on outside bids. We don’t charge for either the initial consultation or estimate because we believe at this stage the focus should be on determining whether we are the right company for you and whether your project is right for us.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
It’s different for every home. Design complexity, permitting requirements, material availability, weather, and many other factors affect the schedule. In the past, custom homes have required several months for planning and permitting followed by about a year of construction. However, we will provide a schedule specific to your custom home so you won’t be guessing.
What are allowances?
An allowance is a budget amount for an item that has not yet been selected. Your contract may include allowances for flooring, cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and more. If your selection costs more than the allowance, you pay the difference. If it costs less, then you keep the savings. Allowances are an important part of establishing a realistic budget.
What happens if I change my mind during construction?
If you have changed your mind about something, we will explain what the change involves, what it costs, and how it will affect the schedule. Then you can make an informed decision about whether you want to proceed with the change.
